DOGE is the native token of the Dogecoin blockchain designed to be a decentralized, open source, peer-to-peer digital currency. Launched in December 2013, Dogecoin set itself apart from other early digital currencies by offering an accessible, vibrant and friendly community that quickly gained popularity throughout the internet. Whilst originally started as a parody cryptocurrency by IBM and Adobe software engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer, the meme-token has only grown in popularity since its inception and has risen to become one of the top altcoins in terms of market capitalization. The Dogecoin blockchain uses a proof-of-work algorithm that generates new blocks at approximately 1-minute intervals. Dogecoin’s token supply is uncapped and has a fixed mining reward at 10,000 DOGE per block.
