SushiSwap is a decentralized exchange built on Ethereum with a focus on the community. Created by the anonymous developer 'Chef Nomi' after forking Uniswap and now led by '0xMaki', the project allows users to swap cryptocurrency for another cryptocurrency while incentivizing users to deposit assets and become liquidity providers. Its rise to popularity was due to its bottom-up approach to developing features that cater to its user demands. No single entity controls this protocol and it is operated by smart contracts. SUSHI is the governance token that enables community governance over the entire SushiSwap ecosystem.
